Check your credit report before you apply
Before you apply for a mortgage, it's good practice to get an up-to-date copy of your credit file — so there are no hidden surprises that could affect your application.
Why check your credit file?
Lenders use different credit reference agencies, so your file can look different depending on which one they check. That's why I recommend CheckMyFile — it brings together the information held by all three of the main agencies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) in one easy-to-read report, giving you the fullest picture before you apply.
CheckMyFile is free for the first 7 days, then £14.99 a month, and you can cancel online at any time — including within the free trial.
